This binocular phase-contrast microscope is designed for advanced education, research, and clinical applications focusing on live-cell studies. High quality optics and precision mechanics have made this time-tested design a favorite for labs across many industries. Brightfield and phase-contrast optics provide the flexibility needed for both fixed and live cells, fluids, and materials. An easy-to-use turret condenser allows you to quickly switch between phase-contrast and brightfield.
The binocular head can be customized for each user, with a sliding interpupillary adjuster for varying eye spacing, and diopters for both eyes to fine-tune focus for nearsighted users and for asymmetry. The head can be rotated 360°, and has a 45° incline for viewing while seated or standing. Interchangeable eyepieces allow for an expanded magnification range, or the use of special eyepieces with pointers and measuring reticles.
The objective turret provides instant access to 4 magnification levels to easily focus in on minute details from 40X to 1000X. Additional 16X eyepieces expand the maximum magnification to 1600X with 8 unique levels. This covers magnifications needed for studying hair follicles, cells, and bacteria. These high-quality lenses are achromatically corrected to improve resolution and color accuracy.
The 2 Layer mechanical stage provides smooth and precise movement for examination of specimen slides. The stage's low-position controls are conveniently placed near the coaxial focus knobs for a streamlined workflow. Examining specimen slides is intuitive and precise for users at any skill level.
The halogen sub-stage lighting provides bright illumination with excellent color rendering. The warm lighting is better suited for prolonged use, causing less eyestrain than LED and fluorescent lighting. The Abbe light condenser has a high 1.25 numerical aperture for oil-immersion, and an iris diaphragm to optimize contrast and depth-of-field. The condenser holder uses rack-and-pinion movement for precise height adjustment.
A phase-contrast kit is included with a 5-position turret condenser and 4 plan-achromatic phase-contrast objective lenses. Phase contrast is used to reveal detail in indistinct objects, such as unstained cells and microorganisms that would otherwise appear invisible. By using a combination of specialized objective lenses and a modified light condenser, these invisible objects can be visualized by manipulating variations in phase. This turret condenser allows you to easily rotate through the brightfield and four phase-contrast settings (10X, 20X, 40X, 100X). Each phase-contrast setting has a centerable annulus for proper alignment. Each of the phase-ring equipped objective lenses has plan-achromatic corrections for improved color and resolution, as well as edge-to-edge sharpness.
