ME520TC is a highly versatile microscope for materials inspection using transmitted and reflected light. Primarily designed as an upright metallurgical microscope, the high-power 100W epi-illumination system can be used for brightfield, darkfield, and basic polarized-light. Wafer inspection and metallographic applications will greatly benefit from the illumination modes. The addition of transmitted lighting provides even more flexibility for biological specimens, or backlighting hollow or porous materials. This instrument will be indispensable in any biology, medical, or materials lab.
The microscope's head is designed for precision and comfort. The super-widefield optics provide a larger field-of-view so you can see more specimen at any magnification. Compensation-free Siedentopf interpupillary adjustment allows any user to properly align the oculars without readjusting focus. For users with astigmatism or asymmetrical vision, the left ocular can be adjusted to fine-tune focus. The photo port is equipped with a 23mm tube for attaching cameras with compensating lenses, and is height-adjustable to match focus with the eyepieces. The port is compatible with YX series C-mount adapters which can attach directly to C-mount cameras without a compensating lens - ideal for 1" format sensors. The head is set to a 30°., incline which is ideal for viewing from a standing position, and it can be rotated 360°.
The infinity-corrected optical system eliminates optical errors when using filters and other in-line components, ensuring highly precise images. This is important to guarantee optical resolution and field-flatness when using the episcopic illuminator and any additional filtering.
The quintuple objective turret has three RMS objective mounts and two M25 mounts for BD brightfield/darkfield objective lenses. Five RMS lenses are included for transmitted or reflected lighting ranging from 5X to 100X. 10X and 20X BD lenses are included for use with brightfield and darkfield reflected lighting for extreme versatility. With the 10X and 25X eyepieces, ten unique magnifications are available from 50X to 2500X. The turret's reversed orientation provides more working room above the stage. These high-quality lenses are achromatically corrected to improve resolution and color accuracy, with planatic flat-field correction to provide edge-to-edge sharpness.
The 2-layer mechanical stage provides smooth and precise movement for examination of specimen slides, with a large translation range for viewing larger samples. The stage's low-position controls are conveniently placed near the coaxial focus knobs for a streamlined workflow. Examining specimens is intuitive and precise for users at any skill level. Symmetrical focus controls are coaxially mounted for fast, intuitive focusing. A height limit can be set to prevent contact damage, as well as presetting optimal focus distance.
The episcopic illuminator provides 100W of incandescent light, with field and aperture diaphragms for precise control of contrast. A front-mounted slider lets you quickly switch between brightfield and darkfield when using the 10X and 20X BD lenses, offering a level of detail. A polarizer and analyzer add even more flexibility for minerals, fluids, and materials.
Built on Koehler illumination principals, the sub-stage lighting provides evenly-distributed light for optimal contrast. The rear-mounted 30W halogen light-source provides 100 CRI illumination with ample brightness for contrast-enhancement methods like darkfield. The lower color temperature of the halogen light-source causes less eyestrain compared to high-Kelvin LED. The light condenser uses a swing mechanism for optimized lighting at both high and low magnifications, with a NA0.25 setting for full coverage at extremely low magnifications. An iris diaphragm allows you to adjust the aperture to optimize contrast and depth-of-field. The condenser holder uses rack-and-pinion height adjustment for precision control, and is centerable for proper alignment. The condenser is top-mounted for easier replacement when working with additional condensers. The illuminator's field lens provides an iris diaphragm to control light-spread, optimizing contrast and definition in specimen features.
