Misco, PA203X-009-800-801-802-804, Beer Refractometer - Plato, Dissolved Solids, Specific Gravity (D 20/20 °C), Brewer's Points, and Propylene Glycol Freeze Point °C
Multi-scale Digital Beer Refractometer for measuring Plato, Dissolved Solids, Specific Gravity D20/20, Brewer's Points, and Propylene Glycol Freeze Point °C.
MISCO Digital Beer Refractometer with Plato, Dissolved Solids, Specific Gravity D20/20, Brewer's Points, and Propylene Glycol Freeze Point °C Scales
This beer refractometer has it all! It features a Plato scale, Dissolved Solids scale, Specific Gravity (D 20/20) scale, Bewer's Points scale, and a propylene glycol freeze point scale. Use the Dissolved Solids scale for precisely measuring the sugar content of wort used in beer making. The Dissolved Solids, Points, and Specific Gravity scales are based on the mathematical relationship between real wort sugars and refractive index so they will provide a more accurate indication of true sugar content and can be used interchangeably with Brix, °Plato, and Balling units in calculators and equations. The Plato scale is based on the relationship between sucrose and refractive index. The propylene glycol scale is ideal for measuring propylene glycol heat transfer fluid (antifreeze) in wort coolers and chiller systems.
Whether you are a beer chemist working for a multinational brewery, or a passionate brewer crafting one-of-a-kind beer in your own home, the goal of the MISCO Digital Beer Refractometer is to help you by providing the most accurate possible beer measurements from start to finish.
The MISCO Digital Beer Refractometer is not just a repurposed Brix refractometer. MISCO Pro-Brewing Scales™ are scientifically derived from a beer model with a very complex sugar profile, which is influenced strongly by maltose, and specific to wort. As there is very little sucrose in wort, measurements and temperature compensation are naturally much more accurate than sucrose-based Brix refractometers. Furthermore, because the refractometer is made specifically for beer, the user no longer needs to use a refractometer correction factor when plugging dissolved solids or specific gravity readings into beer calculators.
Fast, convenient, and easy to use, the MISCO Digital Beer Refractometer requires only a fraction of the sample size required by traditional hydrometers. Simply place a drop or two of wort in the stainless steel well and press a button. The beer refractometer delivers a nearly instantaneous digital readout on a large backlit LCD display. The digital readout removes the subjectivity associated with interpreting where a boundary line crosses tiny little scale divisions.
Precision is assured thanks to MISCO's proven OPTICAL-ENGINE®, which is at the heart of every Digital Beer Refractometer. Optical-Engine technology features high-precision sapphire optics, the next hardest substance to dia-mond, which improves the speed and accuracy of temperature measurements. Competing digital refractometers only use glass prisms. A 1,024 element high-definition detector array provides more than eight times the resolution of competing 128 element low-definition detector arrays. The MISCO array has more than 3,256 pixels per inch (ppi) resolution compared with 400 ppi resolution in competing digital refractometers. The net result is an instrument that is more rugged and more precise.
Nonlinear temperature compensation is specific to beer, not sucrose, and automatically ensures that fluids read between 10 and 40 °C (50 to 104 °F) are measured accurately. Calibration is automatic and does not require the use of special calibration solutions or tools. The beer refractometer automatically calibrates itself to water and is ready to use in seconds. No more screws to turn and nothing to adjust. The output can even be localized to display in English, German, Spanish, French, and Russian.
