Darkfield illumination technology uses reflected and diffracted light to illuminate the specimen. Unlike conventional (bright field) microscopes, which show the form and structure of a subject, dark field microscopes only show the outline of a subject or its movement. Compared to conventional microscopes, dark field microscopes are better for observing small objects.
