The IN400T provides high-resolution optics and an inverted illumination system in a stable, ergonomic design for observing cell cultures and other biological and chemical specimens in brightfield and phase-contrast. The inverted form accommodates larger specimen containers, with multiple specimen templates and mechanical stage controls to improve workflow. High-resolution, infinity-corrected optics and phase-contrast capability maximize contrast and clarity to ensure high quality images.
The Viewing Head
The viewing head has a 45° incline and Siedentopf interpupillary adjustment for flexibility and comfort. Super-widefield optics provide a larger field-of-view so you can see more specimen at any magnification. For users with astigmatism or asymmetrical vision, the left ocular can be adjusted to fine-tune focus. The trinocular format provides a dedicated photo-port for mounting a microscopy camera for capturing photos or videos. A sliding shutter isolates the light path when using a camera, avoiding stray light from the oculars during fluorescence imaging. The photo port is designed to work with 23mm reduction lenses for optimized field-of-view, and is height-adjustable to match focus with the eyepieces.
Optics
The infinity-corrected optical system eliminates optical errors and ensures highly precise images. The quintuple objective turret provides instant access to 5 magnification levels. This allows you to efficiently move through magnifications from 40X to 600X. Additional 25X eyepieces expand the maximum magnification to 1500X with 9 unique levels. These high-quality lenses are achromatically corrected to improve resolution and color accuracy, with planatic flat-field correction to provide edge-to-edge sharpness.
The Stage
The large stage can accommodate slides, multi-well plates, dishes, and short flasks thanks to a number of included stage templates. Two plates are supplied for the stage's aperture, including glass and key-holed metal for varying light control. A large mechanical caliper can hold and position any of the sample templates for precision placement. An extension is provided for an additional 70mm width when needed.
Transmitted Illumination
The transmitted illumination system uses a fixed-height, 30W incandescent light-source with integrated condenser, and slots for filters and a phase-annulus board. The annulus board provides two centerable phase-contrast annuli, as well as an open setting which can be used with colored filters for band-isolation or color-correction.
Phase Contrast
The 10X, 20X and 40X objective lenses are equipped with phase rings for phase-contrast observation. By sliding the 3-position phase-annulus board into the overhead lamp, the transmitted lighting is quickly changed to work with the objective lenses to enhance contrast in hard-to-see samples such as live cells which cannot be stained. By manipulating variances in phase caused by changing refractive indices, once imperceptible details can present as transitions from dark to light.
Digital Imaging
Monitor and capture photos and videos with the included 1.3MP USB2.0 camera. The C-mount camera is specially designed for use with microscopes, allowing you to watch live images, and to record photos or videos on your computer. This ability to view microscopic images on your computer reduces eye-strain, and allows groups of people to view images at the same time. A 0.37X reduction lens is included for use with 23mm-30.5mm ports to capture more of the microscope's field-of-view. AmScope professional software for Windows provides a wide assortment of capture and photo-editing functions including color correction, time-lapse capture, image stitching, and a full complement of measuring tools. A lite version of AmScope software is comes for Mac and Linux with essential functionality for capturing photos and videos.
