Ammonium persulfate is a non-hazardous, non-explosive and economical oxidizing agent. It is commonly employed polymerizing agent for the acrylamide gels. Ammonium persulfate supported on silica gel is useful reagent for the regeneration of carbonyl compounds from their corresponding oxime derivatives under microwave and solventless "dry" conditions.

Application

• Ammonium persulfate (APS) has been used in the gel purification step during the synthesis of Sel2 N20 RNA library.
• It may be used in the following studies:
• Synthesis of doped polypyrrole (PPy), via in situ doped, oxidative coupling polymerization.
• As an oxidizing agent for the determination of urinary iodine.
• Gel electrophoresis studies.
